In an effort to help you all with writing stories or writing in general, we have to cover the essential question, "What is Truth?" Many people including philosophers, religious theologians, and writers have made efforts to either answer this question, or at least come up with mental strategies to help find ways to answer this question.
You might have thought at some point in your life, "why are we even here and what's the meaning of life? How did all of this come to exist? Is there a divine creator or did this all happen out of chance?" In other cases, you may have wondered, "Why do people do what they do? Why is there good and evil in the world? What is truly right and wrong morality?" Each and every one of you have your own thoughts and ideas about these questions. Some of you may feel you have an answer, for others, you may still be thinking about them. At the end of the day, your view of truth sets the stage for how you express yourself and what you write. The conclusions you have about truth are your own and become your story to tell.
There are two essential forms of truth: Objective and Subjective Truth
Objective Truth: This is Truth with a capital "T" meaning-- if something is true, it is for all people, at all places, and at all times. An example would be that humans need oxygen to live and oxygen is necessary for living organisms to sustain their lives, therefore, oxygen is essential for the continuity of life.
Subjective Truth: This is truth in the sense that it applies to your personal experience. An example would be two people who are looking at a painting. One may think it's beautiful, and another may think it's ugly because of different experiences in life that shaped their ideas of beauty.
For you, what is your idea of truth? Do you think there is an objective truth for all people, in all places, at all times, or do you think it's entirely relative to personal experience? Do some of you think it's a hybrid of both that the two work together? Be as detailed as possible.
Student Anon: I Personally believe that everyone has their own idea of truth, but there are objective truths too.
I believe this because my truth is that God created the earth and all living things on it, but not everyone believes that. Then there are objective truths where everyone needs water to survive.
I personally believe everybody has their own truths because we all grew up with different beliefs and different religions. Everybody has their own opinion and even though there may not be evidence to support their beliefs, they are still going to stick to that thought. My personal truth is that God made the earth in 7 days, and not everyone is going to believe that but it's okay it's just my personal opinion.
Truth to me is something that can be proven or explained. If something has evidence as to why it is then that to me, is the truth. Something that can not be proven can not possibly be true.
I believe I need some sort of evidence for me to believe what someone tells me but even then I cant be 100% because I wasnt there. Besides that if someone doesnt have proof to give me than I can only take their word for it which I am not sure at all if they are being truthful or not
Truth
I believe there is a higher power and truth rests in something above our opinions, even though others have different opinions. Some individuals believe there is no god or demon, they are often atheists. In certain cultures they have certain gods they worship. I believe there is a higher power because there are people, like my aunt, who was given CPR when she was hardly breathing. Her pulse was slow and she was headed into the light when unconscious, but something pulled her out and she believed it was the Lord.
People have their own beliefs, True or false. However, there are things that happen beyond our own opinions like when my aunt Linda’s husband passed. He never wanted to die in the hospital. He had to go into surgery, but didn’t make it. He raised his arms up telling them he was ready, he passed in the hospital. My aunt felt bad because of it, she went outside and asked God if Willard was safe and with him. She told Him to send her a sign of a dove, representing He was safe. Later on during their plans for his funeral, Linda’s son Curtis thought he saw a goose. A woman told him it was a dove, at the time she didn’t think anything of what happened. Until she got home and sat in her bedroom, she then realized that what she said-- actually came true from God's hand at work. This is why I believe there is something true that is beyond my or other people’s opinions.
Truth in my opinion is basically mostly what people say. It involves being trusted cause you don't always have to have prof to be telling the truth but telling people what happens is taking a chance at be accused of lying but in reality only you who told the people about what you witnessed will really know what happened.
Truth is subjective because truth is all about the way we see things and how we take in our own thoughts about things. Not everyone is going to believe in the same things we all have own thoughts. We aren't going to be able to make some see something how we see it if they don't have the same beliefs. Like Christians can't make Buddhist believe in what they do because they have there own beliefs and they fallow there own leaders.
truth is something hard to go buy unless it was you that did it who knows if its true because people don't get the story right every time they say it or here it they can take it diffidently on the way that they see thing. so what im saying is its subjective because it all on the way people see things we all see the world differently and that makes a big effect on the way we take things
Truth in my eyes is the legitimacy of any given situation. You have literal history for example. History itself is probably not 100% accurate, at least in my belief. That is my opinion, a subjective truth. But then let's say the Vietnam war wasn't real. No matter how I think, no matter what I do to try to convince others, the Vietnam war is an objective truth, it really did happen.
Opinions are the biggest variable when it comes to subjective truth. Let's say you might think making me president would be an awful idea. That is your opinion, but you could not be farther from the truth. Now it is a literal fact that making me president would increase the testosterone of everyone in America. Science itself can back up that I have the massive big brain IQ plays from years of competitive Fortnite scrims to be able to run this country. Jokes aside, there's no objective truth whatsoever of me being a good or bad president, it's a subjective opinion that is based on what people think of me.
I think to an extent it could be both, but mostly a very personal experience. No one grows up exactly the same as another, eveyrone has their own specific way of thinking. Like when someone asks, "well what do you think we are here for whats the point?" Me and another person may have a similar thought on paper, but maybe there is something missing because it just cant be explained. Or they will be completely diffrent, maybe one person was taught the meaning of life is the follow the word of whatever god they beileve in, while I think the complete opposite. The truth is what we make it really, even if it "dumb" that could be your reality, your truth
I believe that the world does have a truth but other people experience it differently. The reason why I think that there is a mix of a fact and an opinion is that different people see different things in their own way, but as soon as they actually have proof that they’re right or wrong, eventually, that's what they soon believe. So, let’s say that someone says there's an ancient crystal on the moon, but someone says it’s somewhere else, that person would have to find out for themselves to see if they’re right or they’re wrong.
Everyone has their own opinions on stuff they think is true. If some people don’t believe something is true, that's their opinion. Then they believe something that's not the truth, and they think that is right. But, there is a truth to some things, just people have their own opinions or experiences of that truth. So, that's why I think there's a mix of opinions and facts because everyone isn’t going to be right on some things or right on other things. That's why I think there's a mix.
Truth is what actually happened. For me the truth is something that I believe that has prior proof of being true
Everybody has a different point of view sometimes when there are facts for a truth some people have there own truth . my objective of truth is if there is sience or facts backing it then it must be true.
